Terms and Conditions

MOTIV8 is an online document generation system designed to assist firearm licence applicants by preparing a professionally structured motivation document using the information supplied by the applicant.

The generated motivation is intended to support a firearm licence application submitted in terms of the Firearms Control Act, 2000 (Act 60 of 2000).

The use of MOTIV8 does not guarantee the approval of any firearm licence application.

The decision to approve or refuse any firearm licence application rests solely with the Central Firearms Register (CFR) of the South African Police Service (SAPS), acting in accordance with the Firearms Control Act and its Regulations.

MOTIV8 has no influence over, or involvement in, the decision-making process of SAPS or the Central Firearms Register.

Payment is made solely for the preparation and generation of a motivation document and not for the approval of a firearm licence application.

The applicant is solely responsible for ensuring that all information entered into the system is true, complete and accurate.

The generated motivation is based entirely on the information supplied by the applicant.

The applicant remains responsible for providing all supporting documents required by SAPS and the Firearms Control Act.

MOTIV8 does not determine which supporting documents are ultimately required by SAPS.

The applicant confirms that:

• all information supplied is true and correct;
• the generated motivation has been reviewed before submission;
• the applicant remains responsible for the firearm licence application submitted to SAPS.

The applicant must review all information before generating the motivation document.

Once generated, the motivation document is regarded as final and cannot be edited within the system.

Generated motivation documents and associated application information will be stored securely for 12 months from the date of generation.

After the 12 month retention period has expired, the generated motivation and associated data will be permanently deleted from the system without further notice.

Applicants are encouraged to download and securely retain copies of their motivation documents.

Personal information is processed solely for the purpose of generating, storing and providing access to the applicant's motivation document.

The MOTIV8 system, questionnaire, templates, generated document structure and website content remain the intellectual property of MOTIV8.

The generated motivation may only be used by the applicant for their own firearm licence application.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MOTIV8 shall not be liable for:

• the refusal of any firearm licence application;
• decisions made by SAPS or the Central Firearms Register;
• delays in processing applications;
• inaccurate or incomplete information supplied by the applicant;
• any direct or indirect loss arising from the use of the generated motivation.

MOTIV8 may amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
